Antimatter Blues by Edward Ashton 🌟 Arc review 🌟

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!!

When I picked this up, I didn’t realize it was a sequel, but I still wound up enjoying this.

Antimatter Blues is a fun experience and definitely gave me the escape from reality that I need while reading. Mickey is an expendable, and has trauma over his history of deaths he experienced during the time he was active. It’s been 2 years since his retirement, but just as he’s getting comfortable, he is pulled into conflict once again.

Mickey and a group set out on a mission with one of the planet’s own lifeforms, a creeper. He needs to get a bomb back from another nest of lifeforms that he has never communicated with, and the adventure is action-packed.

This story was funny at times and frustrating at others. I didn’t completely love all the characters, but I was still able to enjoy this read.

Meru by S.B. Divya 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

This was so thought-provoking.  The story takes place far in the future after humans had our chance at taking care of our planet and, unfortunately,  (but not surprisingly) failed. Alloys are the main population now in different worlds, and it was them that basically rebuilt and recreated safe planets.

The main character this story revolves around, however, is human.  I loved following her story because she’s incredibly kind and also a genius, so I loved learning all the small details of this scifi world through her.

This really made me think, and in good ways.  After reading this, I really sat and just pictured where earth really will be in 10 years, 20 years… much farther out, as well.  And, I think that’s a sign of a great book.  A book that has a lasting impact.  And, Meru certainly does.

Happy Pub day to S.B. Divya with Meru! This book is out today, so if you like amazing sci-fi, then try to check this out!

I really just started reading this today, but I’ll be back with a review as soon as possible.

Happy Reading!!! πŸ’œ

Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy A. Snyder 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!!!

This is a sweet, gruesome, disgusting, caring, horrific and brilliant book! And, that’s as much as a warning as a recommendation. This book may make your bile rise, but it will also become a welcomed obsession when your flying on the wings of a reader high! (Don’t ask, idk)

The characters in each section are all somehow connected which was a satisfying plus. This takes place years after covid with the beginning of a new pandemic. However, some lucky patients seem to turn into Vampire and zombie-esque types of new people, maybe even a new species.

This story and the author’s powerful, no spare on the gore style had me from the beginning to the end. It’s not a long book and it’s a very quick read.

The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!

This is an incredibly beautiful story of finding peace in the very far away future.

This story has three parts, all of which take place several hundred years from each other on a planet named Sask-E. It took me through one of the beginning stages for this world, and throughout the book, I could see the changes happening over a long period of time.

Terraformers is about just that, terraforming. This showed detailed processes to an incredibly eco-friendly world. It also showed the politics that take place surrounding the company owning this world, and then, creation of government for these people.

I thought this book was incredibly interesting and insightful about our world today and many of our challenges. However, it was a bit slow going for me. But, the whole picture this author presents is daring and beautiful, which left me feeling fulfilled as a reader.

August Kitko and the Mechas from Space by Alex White 🌟 Arc Review🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!

This was a blast! I mean, the end of humankind… but, wait! We are saved by music and the sweetest guy on earth and an amazing robot (with a sword!!!). This story has everything; Action, drama for days, a beautiful understanding of music and emotional connections, and love. This is a psychedelic masterpiece that has the kind heart and compassion that truly is world-saving. A thrilling and fantastic read!

Upgrade by Blake Crouch 🌟 ARC Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!!

This book is a great example of a hypothetical question about our future and some ways it could play out. In this not so distant future that Crouch creates, there is an evolution in what some are able to do by changing our genes to create a sort-of superhuman with a high increase in intelligence. The even more interesting piece to this is seeing through the author’s eyes what a possible effect this would have on the main character.

This was a thrilling, fast-paced and brilliant read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I never could figure out the next twist in the book and it led me through a whirlwind of surprises. I highly recommend this!
