Wow.Β This is intense.Β Four students are being interrogated in separate rooms. All seem suspicious.Β Β Each chapter is a separate question, but with each students answer, often not aligned at all.Β Basically,Β who killed Maylee?
One night camping in the woods, this odd group often finds themselves in disagreement over everything.Β Β Really,Β it was a bit funny at times.Β Each short chapter added information that created a whole picture at the end.Β But, I have to admit, I was completely shocked by how everything turned out.
This book is dark, mysterious, and full of tension.Β I wound up really enjoying this!

Play the Fool by Lina Chern π Arc Review π

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!!
This was such a fun murder/mystery! Katie works at this kind of strange store in the mall, among the many odd stores that can be found in malls everywhere. When a man bleeding from a head wound comes in, Katie offers to give him a tarot reading partially just so she can figure out what is going on with him. What she doesn’t expect tho, is finding out her friend Marley is dead. And, this starts her on the case.
I loved the main character. Katie is relatable and an overall cool person. The cop that becomes involved, Jamie, is another favorite character. Really all the characters are great. This book was funny and enjoyable.

The Angel Maker by Alex North π Arc Review π

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!!
I’m reading lots of good books lately and this is another one. Super dark and absolutely thrilling, this book had me hooked, especially with the back story of the murder victim.
Allan Hobbes was murdered in his creepy mansion, and the detectives are on the case. However, this leads them in a lot of directions, making it seem like there is an underlying connection between everything.
Sarah is a protective sister with her own family, a daughter, and her husband. However, she hasn’t had a chance to be that protective sister for her little brother in over a decade. When she finds out her brother, Chris, is missing, she immediately takes it upon herself to start the search.
Chris is, in fact, in hiding. But it is not for what I first believed. There are connections, like a spiderweb, over the different character’s and their pasts. This story really drew me in with the brutal history of serial killer jack lock and his creation of a book that reveals the future. It’s almost as if the future is laid out, pre-ordained, and nobody even has any real choices. (A very interesting and quite depressing thoughtπ€£π€£)
I loved this. I loved the darkness of the theme that ran through this story and following these characters. Definitely recommend for fans of thrillers!

Scorched Grace by Margot Douaihy π Arc Review π

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!
A nun with full body tattoos who also smokes the cigarettes and other contraband from her students, all while starting a new reputation as super sleuth as she works on the clues for multiple fires at her convent. This story didn’t need any more surprises, but it definitely kept them rolling in.
I love that this takes place in New Orleans, a perfect city for the scene of any murder/mystery. Sister Holiday has been a nun for about one year after leaving her tumultuous life behind in NYC. There are many looks into her past throughout this book, which only adds to the drama. Sister Holiday teaches at the private school attached to the convent with a few other teachers and nuns. When fires begin erupting seemingingly out of nowhere several times at this school and convent, Sister Holiday takes it upon herself to find the culprit.
This is an intriguing read that definitely kept me entertained. However, I felt like some of the characters and the interactions in this story fell a bit flat. With that said, I still couldn’t put this book down!

Dead and Gondola by Ann Claire πArc Review π

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!
I fell in love with this cozy mystery immediately and I can’t wait to read more!
Snowy Colorado ski town, a wonderful book store Book Chalet, a crime solving cat, Italian hot cocoa… how could I not love this? It’s perfect for curling up by the fire or under a blanket with a hot drink. Especially if anyone knows how to make Italian hot cocoa because that sounds so good!
The Christie sisters have no real relation to Agatha Christie that they know of but they and their family have been huge fans for a while. Owning the best and only Book Chalet in this wintry wonderland little ski town puts them in the perfect position to solve a murder when one actually happens. The Christie family plus the other oddball citizens, who take their mysteries seriously, make the perfect team. And, did I mention this is just the most perfect of perfect chilly/rainy day reads??? Because yaaaas!

Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young π Arc Review π

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!
This book is about an island, Saoirse, and her inhabitants. The tight knit group of families that live on this island all have various secrets they hold close. The island itself seems alive and as if she is watching and weighing every movement and word. Nothing is as it seems. And at the same time, nothing goes completely unseen either.
This book has such a compelling mystery. I thought I knew what was going on the whole time until I was proven wrong! The secrets and the magic seemed to come alive for me as I read this. I could see myself walking through this beautiful and deadly island breathing in the scent of herbs and magic. This author has a talent of giving their stories a magical breath so that they truly live and it’s always a wonderful adventure.
Definitely recommend this!

π Arc Review π The Ravenous Dead by Darcy Coates!

Thank you Netgalley for this wonderful arc!
This book and this series has such a great vibe to it. I feel so at home reading this horror, murder/mystery style book. It’s the perfect series to curl up with at night and enjoy a glass of wine or cup of tea or whatever! Your beverage of choice, ya’ll.
The small town fills with gossip as Keira becomes more well known, for better or worse (but mostly better). She is living in a cabin by the graveyard and trying to use her abilities to help the ghosts pass on. Things quickly escalate when not only does she find an evil ghostly presence near the graveyard, but also when her past comes back to haunt her threatening to take away her new life.
I love the friendship between Keira, Zoe and Mason. Zoe cracks me up with her conspiracy theories and Mason is endearing with his calm and caring attitude. This book gave me everything I need; thrills, chills and laughs and love. I definitely recommend this series!
