The Grimoire of Grave Fates created by Hanna Alkaf and Margaret Owen 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

This is a great book for diverse reads, and I really loved the representation in this. A school of magic, a murder, and each story is a different classmate finding clues!

I enjoyed this. It’s a bit young YA, if you know what I mean? So, I had a harder time connecting with every character. But overall, I think this concept is so unique, and I really feel like it has been executed well.

It’s a fun book to pick up and read through!

The Night in Question by Kathleen Glasgow and Liz Lawson 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

This sequel to The Agatha’s is another fun and thrilling murder mystery! I enjoyed this just as much as the first book, which surprised me because it’s a sequel, but I felt like I fell right back into the rhythm and banter of Alice and Iris’s sleuthing style!

Alice and Iris are back and ready to solve another case in Castle Cove, California. Alice is quite rich, popular, and outgoing, while Iris is just about the opposite. Put these two together, and you get the perfect team.

I really enjoyed this. Loved going into the history of Mona Moody, a movie star from the 1940s. The attention to family details is also important in this book.

Overall, another great read!

Play the Fool by Lina Chern 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!!

This was such a fun murder/mystery! Katie works at this kind of strange store in the mall, among the many odd stores that can be found in malls everywhere. When a man bleeding from a head wound comes in, Katie offers to give him a tarot reading partially just so she can figure out what is going on with him. What she doesn’t expect tho, is finding out her friend Marley is dead. And, this starts her on the case.

I loved the main character. Katie is relatable and an overall cool person. The cop that becomes involved, Jamie, is another favorite character. Really all the characters are great. This book was funny and enjoyable.

The London Seance Society by Sarah Penner 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!

This is a thrilling tale about the dark side to seances and the lengths frauds go to to make money off of their unsuspecting victims.

The scene opens on a cold night in Paris at a spooky chateau that was the scene of a murder. Lenna is sitting around a table as an apprentice to the great Vaudeline who is renowned for her work with the supernatural while performing a seance. Lenna has recently lost her sister, Evie, and is learning this art so she can channel her sister’s spirit and solve her murder.

This story also follows a Mr. Morley, who is head of one of the departments of the London Seance Society. He soon reaches out to Vaudeline, requesting her to perform a seance in London to learn more about the director’s sudden death.

Many secrets are revealed, which only gave me more questions to consider throughout this story, definitely keeping me on the edge of my seat.

I loved the story and the attention to detail about seances at that time. However, I didn’t completely love Lenna’s character and often had a hard time relating to her.

The Angel Maker by Alex North 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!!

I’m reading lots of good books lately and this is another one. Super dark and absolutely thrilling, this book had me hooked, especially with the back story of the murder victim.

Allan Hobbes was murdered in his creepy mansion, and the detectives are on the case. However, this leads them in a lot of directions, making it seem like there is an underlying connection between everything.

Sarah is a protective sister with her own family, a daughter, and her husband. However, she hasn’t had a chance to be that protective sister for her little brother in over a decade. When she finds out her brother, Chris, is missing, she immediately takes it upon herself to start the search.

Chris is, in fact, in hiding. But it is not for what I first believed. There are connections, like a spiderweb, over the different character’s and their pasts. This story really drew me in with the brutal history of serial killer jack lock and his creation of a book that reveals the future. It’s almost as if the future is laid out, pre-ordained, and nobody even has any real choices. (A very interesting and quite depressing thought🀣🀣)

I loved this. I loved the darkness of the theme that ran through this story and following these characters. Definitely recommend for fans of thrillers!

Royal Blood by Aimee Carter 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!!

I loved this book! It was exciting. Just the right amount of emotion, romance, and the ending left me hoping I get to read the sequel soon!

Evan has a tumultuous past, but when she’s caught starting a fire at her boarding school, she is left without too many choices. Jenkins (love this guy) makes the decision to take to her father, the king of England. But when she arrives, she is faced with the brutality of the press, living openly as King Alexander’s illegitimate daughter, and worst of all, being almost completely sexually assaulted and then wrongfully accused of murdering her attacker.

This is a busy and torturous time for her. But, I loved seeing her strength and her character overcome these hard hits, even when it all felt like a lost cause. I loved the attention of what it’s like for a person to recover from sexual assault. More than anything, I loved learning more about her father and her mother’s relationship.

This got me in all my soft spots, and I can’t wait for more! I love Evan’s character and can’t wait to see more of her royal journey!

Scorched Grace by Margot Douaihy 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!

A nun with full body tattoos who also smokes the cigarettes and other contraband from her students, all while starting a new reputation as super sleuth as she works on the clues for multiple fires at her convent. This story didn’t need any more surprises, but it definitely kept them rolling in.

I love that this takes place in New Orleans, a perfect city for the scene of any murder/mystery. Sister Holiday has been a nun for about one year after leaving her tumultuous life behind in NYC. There are many looks into her past throughout this book, which only adds to the drama. Sister Holiday teaches at the private school attached to the convent with a few other teachers and nuns. When fires begin erupting seemingingly out of nowhere several times at this school and convent, Sister Holiday takes it upon herself to find the culprit.

This is an intriguing read that definitely kept me entertained. However, I felt like some of the characters and the interactions in this story fell a bit flat. With that said, I still couldn’t put this book down!

Dead and Gondola by Ann Claire 🌟Arc Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!

I fell in love with this cozy mystery immediately and I can’t wait to read more!

Snowy Colorado ski town, a wonderful book store Book Chalet, a crime solving cat, Italian hot cocoa… how could I not love this? It’s perfect for curling up by the fire or under a blanket with a hot drink. Especially if anyone knows how to make Italian hot cocoa because that sounds so good!

The Christie sisters have no real relation to Agatha Christie that they know of but they and their family have been huge fans for a while. Owning the best and only Book Chalet in this wintry wonderland little ski town puts them in the perfect position to solve a murder when one actually happens. The Christie family plus the other oddball citizens, who take their mysteries seriously, make the perfect team. And, did I mention this is just the most perfect of perfect chilly/rainy day reads??? Because yaaaas!
