This is a magical tale of curse breaking and finding love, all while set in the Regency era.
I did not love this. But that doesn’t mean I think the book is bad. The story is great, the characters are interesting, and I adored the Sapphic love story. But, something about how the story was related made everything feel less real. I honestly got a bit bored with the narrator’s, a fairy onlooker, constant thoughts about everything and everyone, and I feel like that took me out of the story.
I love this author. This is another incredible work. However, this one just wasn’t for me.
This is a great book for diverse reads, and I really loved the representation in this. A school of magic, a murder, and each story is a different classmate finding clues!
I enjoyed this. It’s a bit young YA, if you know what I mean? So, I had a harder time connecting with every character. But overall, I think this concept is so unique, and I really feel like it has been executed well.
This was the sweet, fluffy, ya romance that I needed. I loved this book immediately. As soon as I started reading, I could tell that this was going to be a new favorite, and it definitely is!
Dylan is working and living at his aunt’s restaurant, Wok Warriors, when he has to make a delivery and comes across the rich and handsome Theo. He is talked into fake dating Theo after Theo makes a large donation to his aunt’s restaurant. Theo takes Dylan to the Hamptons, but is this fake dating maybe based on a real crush?
Everything about this is kind and simply wonderful. Even just the descriptions of food have been so delicious sounding. (I’ve been eating dumplings all week bc I can’t just read about dumplings without picking some up at my local restaurant). This is such a comfort romcom read!!!!
I absolutely loved this. The representation is so beautifully done. These authors wove together a fascinating tale that, above all else, speaks on love.
I thought the storyline started slow, but as the two main characters became more familiar with each other, I began to fall in love with this book.
A transgender prince finds himself up against a bigender assassin. Their land has been cursed, including stealing away many adults in charge of their respective kingdoms. However, as these two enemies begin to fall for each other, it becomes clear that action must be taken now to break this curse.
I didn’t start out loving everything in this story bc it started slow, and I had a difficult time grasping the full picture of the plot, but this turned out to be really remarkable, in my opinion!
A ya fantasy book of trans magic stories!! I really enjoyed this. I love a book of short stories, so this was perfect.
Some of the stories gave a bit more attention to the trans MC rather than the magic, but all of them were very enjoyable. I loved the creativity of these authors, and I can tell that a lot of thought was put into each individual story.
I’d say that this is more fantasy oriented overall with less attention to solving many of the issues approached. However, I will never be unhappy about a book bringing positive attention to this great community of beautiful and wonderful individuals.
I loved this for so many reasons. For showing a look at what being an undocumented immigrant is like. For showing a safe and loving family for an nonbinary person. For the absolute love that this book filled me with. Hands down, the best book I’ve read this year.
Ander and Santi are just meant to be. Ander is an artist planning on going to art school in Chicago. Currently, they are working on murals across their hometown, San Antonio. When they meet Santi, everything seems to still be for the both of them into a tranquil happiness. And it’s just so romantic!!!
This author speaks on very important issues and does it well. I honestly want more Ander and Santi!
This book is gorgeous. The characters are gorgeous. Chef’s kiss, this was an amazing read!
This is a diverse, queer, regency era romcom, and I loved it!!!
Eddie (Edith) and Rose have been best friends since childhood. But, even though they swore to never marry, Eddie is taken aback when Rose finds a match. When Eddie meets Nash, a famous poet, the story moves to a mansion full of artsy people without to many cares. Later, Eddie realizes that nothing is ever simple but possibly some things do not change too drastically.
I thought this was clever and funny, and it gave me some good vibes. A perfect weekend read!
Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!!!
I love this story. King Phillip II of France and Richard I, Duke of Aquitaine, are my new favorite love story! I want to point out that in the author’s note at the end of the book, the author points out how many liberties were taken for this tale. And, I’m glad they were because I’m obsessed with this!!!
A romance that begins slowly turns and blooms into such an timeless tale that so many can relate to. Not as if we are kings and dukes or Queens or such, but as people that have insurmountable responsibilities that seem to keep them from their true desires. Or, anything that can keep any person from being with their true love. This is a love of the ages and I feel like it will always reside within me.
Obviously, I am absolutely enamored with this book. The attention to details about this time and the charecterization of these people I never get to read about is beyond amazing. I love that the author chose to bring this time period to life and tell this story. There is a lot of attention to the politics surrounding France and England at this time. However, this is something that I really enjoy reading about and didn’t detract from the love story at all, in my opinion.
