The Dragons Promise by Elizabeth Lim 🌟 ARC Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!

Loved this sequel! I loved stepping into this beautiful world again and experiencing Shiori’s unique magic.

This was a great read that pulled me along effortlessly. There was so much adventure and action that I couldn’t stop turning the pages. And throughout it all, there was an endless supply of love. It had me swooning at Shiori and Takkan’s young love while in my feels at her connection to her brothers and paper bird, Kiki.

I highly recommend this series to fans of ya fantasy!

Suburban Hell by Maureen Kilmer 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!

This was a fantastic possession horror story that has suburbia, mom’s going day to day with children and the Pta super-moms all mixed in with it.

I loved the main character,  Amy.  I really related to her easy going style and her dedication to friends and family.  One night Amy and her friends get together, like usual, to have wine and watch a movie.  But, the next day, when friend Liz breaks ground for her new she shed things start heading from everyday suburban life to demonic suburban life.  And, this book does a great job of keeping the reader in both of those worlds at once.

I loved this book so much and I’m really hoping for a sequel!

Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid 🌟ARC Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!

I had no idea that I loved tennis. Carrie’s dedication to this sport was at once inspiring while being incredibly frustrating. And I loved every second.

Carrie Soto was raised a tennis player. And, throughout this novel, I went back and forth wondering how healthy her relationship to the game was. Particularly, if it took away her ability to live just basic life, to enjoy life without the intensity of being the best at tennis. As if that was her whole personality.

This book gave me everything, every emotion. Like other Taylor Jenkins Reid books this is a showstopper. (And, includes small links and references to other books by this author.)

I cannot recommend this enough!

But, the Lady’s star is missing from the sky and it’s possible on this magical night that she is at Onny’s parent’s gala with the rest of the town making sure love finds it’s way to these three friends.

This was great. I loved that it was 3 different stories, one about each friend. This let me get to know them really well and feel a connection to this tale. I am a sucker for romance and this book is perfection!

Belladonna by Adalyn Grace 🌟 ARC Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!

I loved this book!!! A romantic, murder mystery involving Death as a character! And, not just a character, but a romantic interest!

Signa is 19 years old and has had a mostly unfortunate life. Her mother died when she was a baby and since then she has been passed around between different family members as a foster child. Also, it doesn’t make it any easier for her when wherever she goes someone winds up dying. When she finally reaches a nice home with the Hawthornes a few months before she turns 20 and gains her inheritance, she realizes how special family really is and also grows closer to death and her legacy as well.

I was addicted from the first page of this book to the last. And, I believe there will be more. Not absolutely positive but based on the ending I’m hoping so. Especially because I just want more!! This was so so good. I definitely recommend this!

Babel by R.F. Kuang 🌟Arc Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!

This is one of those books that while reading I become fascinated and inspired by the genius of a mind that is behind this writing. I want to be in this story just as this story is in me now and always will be. And as a student, I want more knowledge. Like I said, inspiring. The magic of language.

Robin Swift was born in Canton, China. He lived there long enough to know the language easily and then, when he was about to die from a sickness, he was moved to England by a man promising him the world. He learned Greek and Latin while studying his own language, Chinese. In doing all this, he became prepared for a life at Oxford at the school for translation. Where language is not just studied, but used to change the world.

This is the best Dark Academia I have ever witnessed. Along with a dangerous secret society and a world on the cusp of revolution. I loved this book and I cannot recommend this enough!

Babysitter by Joyce Carol Oates 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc.

There is no doubt that this is a good book, particularly for those who are interested in very intense literary fiction. This covers, in some detail, different aspects about the serial killer Babysitter’s case. Taking place in 1977, following a housewife who is used to the rich side of life and the start of an affair. It’s a combination of the two stories, really.

This books says a lot about so many hot topics but while the author is showing and telling the different sides to this story it comes with a lot of triggering details.

I had a really hard time reading this one.

Trigger Warnings for: Racism, Child sexual assault, murder, violence, rape… also I just want to add that there is a lot of disturbing imagery.

The Art of Prophecy by Wesley Chu 🌟 ARC Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!

This is going in my top five favorite books for the year, no question. I enjoyed this so much that I’m having trouble adequately coming up with how to describe this book.

The Art of Prophecy is about so many things but a major point of this book is about the honor of war arts and when to throw others expectations out the window and simply do the right thing. Even if it means taking on a whole nation or a fanatical religion.

This story follows Taishi and Jian, along with other characters I’m not getting into because Spoilers! Taishi is an incredible woman with incredible fighting skills and also a fierceness that makes others stop and listen. Jian has a lot to learn about war arts even though he is the center of a prophecy for the Zuhn people and their savior against the Eternal Khan.

I loved every single second of this book. A gorgeous fantasy world that includes all the dirty parts of life. Play-by-play fight scenes that are simply fantastic. And, laugh out loud funny and thought provoking all at once.

I cannot recommend this enough!

Stay Awake by Megan Goldin 🌟 Arc Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!

Wow! An amazing thriller! Fast-paced and full of so many twists. Simply put, this was so much fun to read.

Liv has a memory issue unlike any I’ve ever heard of before. Every time she fails asleep she forgets everything that has happened in the past 2 years. So when she wakes up, she is confused and believes it’s always the same day from 2 years ago. However, she becomes a suspect in a murder and the story follows her along with the detectives trying to solve the case. And, this stays exciting the whole way through!

I am delighted I got a chance to read this early and am also happy to say that I definitely recommend this to fans of thrillers!

The Couple at Number 9 by Claire Douglas 🌟Arc Review 🌟

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!

I love a good thriller and this was no exception. The story is great, love multiple Pov’s, however this was a little too slow moving for me. I feel like there was too much information and that I would have enjoyed this more if it had a quicker pace.

I loved the characters, Theo, Saffy, Lorna and Rose. I also thought the twist at the end was great, really intense!
