Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this incredible arc!!
I loved this book. I adored every second.
Alice is rich, with rich famous parents, parents who are never around. And, after the chaotic events surrounding Alice last summer, nobody else really wants to be around either. Iris is a student at the same school but from the other side of town… the not rich at all side. So when she is offered 3000 dollars to tutor Alice, Iris goes for it. Neither girl expecting to solve a crime or, even weirder, to become friends.
This book was so exciting and really… loveable. A very thrilling read. There were some serious issues, TW for domestic violence and assault.
Thank you Netgalley and Wednesday Books for this incredible arc!
I love the fake dating romance trope and this book instantly became another new favorite for me this year. Doe and Wells make for a delicious and delightful team in this story and I loved every second of it!
The fast-paced, humorous and endearing world and relationship with these characters made me never want this book to end. Although the story is light-hearted and fun, there were some serious topics covered which made this tale more authentic.
I recommend getting your hands on this one! Definitely do not miss out on this witty romantic read. I cannot recommend this more!
Savannah’s little sister, Piper, is in a coma. However, Savannah does not believe the story of an accident. She becomes obsessed with finding out who did this to her sister. This leads the reader into a fast-paced, mysterious and quick read that is sometimes exhilarating.
I didn’t completely love this but I can see how others would. I really feel that the MC could have been a stronger a more level headed character. Really, some of the decisions were just obviously not the right choices and that’s something that gets on my nerves.
I would definitely say to give this a go and see what you think!
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for this incredible arc!
I had such a fun time with this book! I loved the main character and the love interest. Along with delightful conversations and banter, there is still a deep side to this story which only made me love it more!
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for this incredible arc!
In a Garden Burning Gold is another amazing book by Rory Power. I loved every second of this. It does start out slow but I enjoyed that because the author used the space to really do some great world building and set the tone for this story.
This is told from the dual Pov’ of twins Rhea and Lexos. They are both trying to keep their father in power but they still have many differences although they have a similar goal and are twins. I loved the political intrigue that took part in this incredible world and the shocking betrayals. I will definitely be picking up book two!
I highly recommend this! Look for this on April 5th!
One of my favorite books has been A Visit from the Goon Squad for a long time. So when I saw that there was a new book that is related and by this ingenious author, I could not wait to read it. And I was not disappointed!
I love these short tales going from character to character, all somehow relative but in different times, and this complex weaving of these different stories creates a beautiful full picture by the end. And, if this impacts me like Goon Squad, I will be caught in moments years from now thinking of these characters and their lives, their thoughts and opinions
No, it is not straightforward. My suggestion to readers, as is always my suggestion with stories like this, is to just let go of preconceptions and just go with it. This book is incredibly insightful and delves deeply into some very important issues like authenticity and something I’ve asked myself a lot in the last few years… Are we losing touch?
Great read. Highly recommend A Visit from the Goon Squad. It’s a provocative style of story telling but I’m hoping people read this and see the big picture the author is painting.
This was such a riveting and detailed fantasy. I would say it’s a must read for fantasy lovers. I loved the dark and forbidden magic at the center of this tale mixed in with different kinds of characters from different factions who all had their own pov.
I can see how this wouldn’t be everyone’s favorite with the multiple pov’s but I believe this story is breathtaking and worth people’s attention. The politics, intrigue and relationships between families and heirs was one of my favorite parts. I love fantasy that is rich in these issues bc it’s simply fascinating.
This mystery/thriller was incredible! I loved the whole set up. Natalie works at the front desk of a high school that is known for it’s sports department and the entitled teens that go there. Natalie has an interesting past so when things become derailed at the school with a certain staff member, she becomes a suspect in a crime.
Going between Natalie’s police interview and the start of everything to the explosive ending was the perfect way to tell this story. It’s fast-paced and intense. I definitely recommend This!
Dark Stars edited by John F.D. Taff is a great anthology of horror short stories which is perfect for this time period bc horror is in.
The main thing that stuck with me about all these stories was not only how unique they each are but how easily they each slide into strange and horrific ideals. So many different types of disgusting to terrifying scenarios that really made me think of not just that specific story and it’s characters but the big picture as well. Looking at life through a haunting lens which brought out many different feelings for me.
I definitely recommend this as an entrancing horror read. I personally love short stories of the horror genre. It seems to make the point of each story even more powerful.
Lots of trigger warnings here. Sexual, emotional and physical harm. Prepare yourself.
