Uprooted by Naomi Novik, A Review

A man known as “The Dragon” rules over and controls the woods and the surrounding communities. Every ten years he chooses a girl to take into his Tower until he let’s her go and instead of returning home, she goes to faraway lands seeking a new life. Things have been this way for a century, the Dragon and the same kind of girls; beautiful, talented, and perfect in every way. That is until he takes Agnieszka and that’s when everything begins to change.

Agnieszka learns of the dangers of the surrounding forest, known as “the Wood”. The Wood is trying to take over all the land around the Dragons tower and honestly, it is succeeding. Although Agnieszka at first tries to stubbornly fight against the magic that the Dragon is teaching her, she slowly learns her own way about it and realizes that she can make a difference in the lives of the villagers in the surrounding communities that are being harrassed by the evil Wood.

This book is full to brimming with magic and it is a delight to read. It’s such an enjoyable story, something that can be picked up and simply delighted in it’s simple and honest form. I have a feeling that this book will become a classic in the fantasy genre.

Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!!
